Here’s “Conquest”, a stunning 1924 Chris-Craft 26’ utility with a rear cockpit of epic size. Zoom in on that brute of a motor. It’s a Curtis OX5 90HP engine.This Rare Example Has the Heritage of a True Chris Craft Enthusiast proudly stated. Owned by the same family since 1982, This Runabout has been shown occasionally. Last showing was at the Les Cheneaux boat show in Hessel, MI in 2011, where she won the Mertaugh Boat Works Best Chris Craft award. Best CC was awarded to Conquest, the 1924 26-ft. utility with the converted Curtis aircraft engine, pictured above. Chris Smith said CC bought the engines as WWI surplus for not a lot of money, then modified them for marine use. He said the low cost was a big factor in the company becoming a high volume boat manufacturer.
