What is my boat worth?

We make it a policy not to appraise any boat without actually evaluating it in person. There are many potential problem areas that are difficult to assess even in person. A description over the telephone cannot come close to providing enough information. Even photos of a boat are really not enough to allow an accurate evaluation. We are available to appraise boats for insurance purposes at a nominal charge, and we will perform an evaluation of needed restoration work at no charge, provided you have Mahogany Bay do the recommended work.

How do I arrange to come see a boat?

If you want to make a personal evaluation of a boat or boats, call our office and make an appointment for a personal showing (952-495-0007). Our office is located in Mound, MN on the west end of Lake Minnetonka, 20 miles west of downtown Minneapolis. The closest general aviation airport to our office is Flying Cloud Airport (FCM) in Eden Prairie, MN, and their runways do accommodate jets. We are always happy to pick you up at the airport. I’d love to buy a boat, but I have too many toys already. Do you take trades?

Too many toys??? Yes, we do take trade-ins. We’ve taken Lamborghinis, Thunderbirds, other wood boats, fiberglass boats and many other items on trade in the past. We’re usually open to any suggestions, as long as there is a verifiable value to the item you’d like to trade.

I want to sell my boat; what do I do?

To begin the process, we ask you to take photos of your boat from all angles. The more photos the better. Photograph the sides, decks, transom, the bottom, under the floor boards, engine, dashboard etc. Send all data you have including but not limited to history of vessel, hull number, maintenance records, and asking price to sales@mahoganybay.net. Please also let us know where the boat is located. Also include your phone numbers, address, and email address if you have one. Finally, we will look at the photos and let you know if we are interested.

I’m interested in a boat you have listed. Where is it located?

With rare exception, all the boats listed on our website are in our storage facilities, 30 miles west of the twin cities metro. Judging from the number of inquiries we receive asking for location, it appears we are somewhat unique in this regard. We actually own two-thirds of our inventory, with only one-third being “brokerage boats”. We often assist our customers, when they move to a different boat, in selling their previous boat. That is the source of most of our “brokerage” inventory.
